WHAT A WHIRLWIND WEEKEND! LITERALLY!
We had such a great time at Hendersonville, NC's 55th Annual Art on Main, October 4 & 5, 2014. We all learned so much about the entire show/ street vending process! First of all, be prepared to deal with wind! Our tent nearly blew away Saturday, and we watched helplessly as the tents we tried to save nearby crumpled under the strain. Thank goodness for Meghan Bernard, who whipped us into shape and we were back on board! I had to work most of Sat., but was there all day Sunday, which turned out to be much warmer and pleasant.
I finally had the opportunity to stroll the streets and check out the other tents on Sunday morning, meeting several lovely and helpful artists along the way. Back at the tent, I was creating linocuts and telling people about our Art Program at BRCC. I managed to sell several pieces of work and pass out tons of cards, more than I would have expected. It was so exciting!!! My displays came together so well and I felt like we all put a very strong presentation out for the program.
We spent the day demonstrating and talking with viewers. I had wonderful reactions to my work, which was so uplifting. I relished the opportunity to see people looking at my work: handling the mugs, touching surfaces, pulling down their spectacles for a closer look. I kept so busy that I hardly had time to take pictures.
So working so hard all week and staying up until the wee hours of Saturday morning definitely paid off in both finance and experience! Thank you Hendersonville for this wonderful weekend!
